I "heard" so you don't have to believe me.  That if you finish everything, you can get a coupon on some microsoft products?  Dunno lol

If your thinking of learning to fly for real, don't let this discourage you. IMO, it's easier in real life because you have an actual person sitting next to you who can answer your questions.

Well in real life they explain it better and more in depth, and they harp at you if your not flying to standard.   ;D  Once you get it its no biggie.  I must say though, the cessna in flight simulator is a bit harder to control than the real thing.  Of course it also depends on your set up.  I use a Force 3d logitech joystick, its probably not the best choice.

And ya, some of the checkrides are brutally hard.  But I guess thats what makes FS9 so fun!  I never got the instrument one personally.  But bah, I get can from point a to b, and fly a perfect ils approach, who needs a certificate ;)

I don't know about the instrument one, but I finished the solo flight and when you do, you get a certificate that you can print out that says you passed your first solo. Signed by the instructor. It's actually pretty cool to get a little something tangable after working so hard to get it.

The certificates are really cool, and a good printer makes a nice job of them.

I was so proud when I got the instrument rating certificate, that I framed it!

I did none of the training! Or wait, I actually did the student pilot one when I first got fs9.

Yah, neither did I.  I just did a few of the initial student pilot stuff.  The whole thing where the flight gets shut down if you stray outside the lesson parameters bothered me.  Plus, the instructor guy is just too anal.  None of that has stopped me from learning though; its been a great learning experience.

Yeah, I have 28.2 hours IRL Cessna 172, and I can't fly an FS 172 for ****... ::)

And if you want to cheat, like me, you could just go to the folder where all the game images are kept and print yourself out all the ratings and licenses ;D ;D ;D
