C208, and taxi on water

Hi all.  New to this forum.

One of the planes I enjoy the most is the C208, love to go bush flying in it in Alaska.

I do have a complaint about the physics when taxiing on water though.  I have to apply a load of tourque to get the plane moving from a standing start, and then the darn thing accelerates up to 35-40 kts!!

Flown in amphibs before, so I know this is'nt right.
Also, the plane shudders at a certain ground speed.

Can anyone tell me how to go about editing the cfg file to correct this?

Welcome to the SimV madhouse, FA!
8) ;D ;D

I don't think you can FA; simflight just isn't close enough to real flight to get good water taxi characteristics.
It's not really a fuction of the aircraft.cfg as far as I understand it; but rather how the aircraft deals with the programmed 'water'. So unless someone knows otherwise; I'm afraid we're stuck with it.

All the ground friction in FS2004 is wrong, water as well as ground. It's just too sticky. There's a file which is a modification of the SIM1.dll that will give you a lot more realistic values but even then it's not perfect. I haven't tried it on water yet but according to reports in that thread it helps water landing and taxi also. Worth a try if you backup your original file. All you have to do is drop it in and try it. If it doesn't work then put the original back in.

Here's a discussion on AVSIM: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=121&topic_id=261460&mesg_id=261460&listing_type=search
