What do you look for?

I've been on a downloading blitz lately, checking out new planes, new sceneries, etc...
I've found a lot that I like, and a lot that I didn't like. But I'm curious. What is it that you guys look for in a good add-on?
I'm fond of a very detailed exterior texture. But even the best paint can be ruined with crappy sound, etc.
What do you look for?

No, no...I'm not talking about specific models. What about each model makes it either good or bad to you? Is it all about the DVC? Does the lack of good sounds ruin a whole model for you? That kinda stuff...

At the moment: modelling quality and VC... As my soundcard does weird anytime the pitch changes i fly with sound off

For me it is external finish and function, along with virtual cockpit. The finish can be ruined by bad function, but the reverse is also true. However, I think that anyone who downloads for free and cannot produce their own addons (that's me too) should not be too critical of others hard work.
Any producer is a God of the white magic box that lives under my desk as far as I am concerned.

I look for good flight dynamics. If it handles nicely, then it dosn't matter what it looks like IMO. I mainly fly with the 2D panel, but a good VC is nice for looking around. Sound isn't that big of a deal to me, as long as it sounds like an airplane, and a piston sounds like a piston, a jet sounds like a jet ect..

For aircraft I look for a good panel. If the panel is rubbish, then I can be bothered with it. therefore if the plane does not come with a panel, (i.e I have to mess a round and get one from somewhere) it is into the recycling bin with the files!

A well modeled, preferably shiney exterior with at least some form of DVC.

It is simple for me, it HAS to have a good flight package and a DVC.
I have this really nice 747 that flies like a damn fighter. Hummmm I don't think so, to the shredder with that thing.
If a plane comes without a DVC, to the shredder it goes. Beings I usually fly the plane from the cockpit, it has to be the best part of the plane.

Well when I download an aeroplane, I open the zip folder, and see what all I got..
If it contains a panel, sound, and textures I install it, if the designer sends me to another website or another file to get first I tend to be disctracted and never actually install it.
Just my two cents...

that attitude will keep some of the nicer machines away from your sim...

VC! VC! VC! It doesn't really need to be pretty, just functional. But, pretty is nice. Just DL'd a P-12 from AFG and the model looks great! VC sucks.

I CAN go and look for files and modify all the files to make things work, but if someone puts up half an airplane I tend to shy away from it unless it is an airplane definately worth having. For example if I already have another version of the same airplane in my aircraft folder, I will forgo installing a new file if it is not complete....
Conversely say if someone built a new airplane like the bellanca citabria, I would definately download and run it on my sim...Actually I AM, someone built a citabria for FS98, and I'm still running it, don't fly it often enough, but it's still there..

.....well I look at the exterior modelling first and never fly on VC so that is not important to me..........all the other stuff like the panel and sound etc etc..can be changed with some knowledge (aquired) and a lot of ingenuity....even the .air file for say a Jumbo can go into another Jumbo to get a different result, and you learn a lot as you go along, which is a bonus......eventually I get the aircraft I want. A bit like dressing in the morning...mix and match to get the best result....commoner

....like this gorgeous beast from the Meljet Megapack which with some fiddling is now my favourite fly...

Exterior model... somewhat realistic flight performance... and at least a cockpit of some sort! (One of the reason im not too close of a follower to posky :-X)
