Edit the panel so that the Hud's no1... (vica versa)
But then u'll have to press shift + 8 to get the normal panel up...
Or u could just edit the panel...

Look down in the Window for the HUD in the panel.cfg.
Where you see the line "Visible=0" , change it to "Visible=1" and change the same line in the Main panel to "visible=0".
Now when you fly, the HUD you like will be displayed and if you want the main panel, then you hit SHIFT+2, or 1 depending on how it is set up.
Hope this is what you are looking for. Good luck.

Thanks for both your replies but the info went straight over my head....new to fs and computers. Guess it wont break my fingers to toggle a few buttons.

It is really very easy Johnny Rich.
On the helo you want to do this to..........just follow these directions.
1] Go to the helo folder located in FS9/Acft.
2] Open the panel.cfg file in the Panel folder. You can open the panel.cfg file with notepad.
3] Note in the Window Title section at the top which Window is the Hud that you want to use. It will look like this:
[Window Titles]
window00=main panel
window01=gps
window02=hud
Something to this affect. It all depends on what panels are installed on that helo. BUT you will see one that is the HUD you want.
4] Now scroll down to that Window02, or whatever your hud window is numbered. Yours might be 03, 04 or something.
5]Here it lists the particulars of that window and the gauges used. In the section above the gauges listed you will find a line that says visible=0 (0 being false and 1 is true)
6] Change the 0 to a 1. Now back up in window00, which should be your main panel window, change the visible=1 to visible=0.
This way, your main panel isn't displayed until you hit SHIFT+1. The HUD panel should display just as the main panel use to....I.E. the hud is the first panel window you get and and will default back to that HUD when you cycle through panel views with the "W" key just as the Main panel use to.
Hope this explains it simply enough. Make a back up of the panel.cfg first and put it on your desktop just in case you get confused.
OR, if you are still not comfortable with doing this, send me the panel.cfg file on that helo and I will fix it for you. Email link on the left.
Enjoy!
