Just a quick question;
The standard start, "does anyone know", if it is possible to dump fuel in FS9. By addon, of Cfg tweak?

Got to 'Aircraft', 'Fuel', 'Change Fuel', and you can enter up any amount you want.

Changing the fuel on the fuel page I know already. What I mean is by cockpit selection.

This is likely not a big help because it is a very "speciallized" thought........

But for simpit construction use, it is possible and has been done.

Fuel quantities in each tank are listed in the variables that M$ "tracks" in the sim.  FSUIPC can access these variables and both read and WRITE them.  It is simply a matter of writing the code to "write" a lower value to one or more tank quantities at the appropriate offsets, and adding a switch (or switches) in the simulated cockpit panels to activate the code.

Because the vaules are available in the sim itself.... a simulated virtual guage could be written using FSUIPC to greate a "fuel dump" virtual guage, I THINK.  If that is the case... I would be durprised if it hasen't already been done.  Keep searching.

best,

Did you search the library?  I found one here http://www.simviation.com/fsgauges_8.htm and a search for "fuel dump gauge" at avsim found 3.

Lol! ;) ;D
I am silly - I guess we all are - I didn't even think of that. I hadn't eveer thought about it for the sim, so I didn't think of it.

Well done Webb.   8)

Thanks for the replies. It's a little odd that this has not been covered by any version of FS. After all there is not an aircraft above the size of general avaiation that does not have a fuel dump facility.  In just about evey emergency situation, if you want to land quickly or land NOW!!!!!!!, then fuel dump is essential.
Ah well, maybe fuel dumping in cyberspace is going to upset the politically correct save the gay whale brigade, but when has upsetting people worried Big Bill.

There's the issue Matt.

As of right now .... fs2004 does not have any real "emergency situation" modeled.

So why have a fuel dump in the defaults?

True John, but fuel dump is not in it's self and emergency. We  have on most aircraft models some features that are fully functional, but yet pretty pointless, just in the name of accuracy. Fuel dmp would be another one of those things. Accurate is accurate. However FS9 seems to be a sim that plays both oppersite ends of extreams. Well, there is always FS9.X to look forward to. Then we can all bitch about what should be in FS10.XX

Sorry that should be "an emergency" :P
