ILS

Hey my first post here,

I know there are alot of posts on here about ILS and landings and stuff, but i am having trouble with it, i follow all tutorials i can find on landing with ILS, but none seem to work, no matter what i do it just does not work, when im lined up the runway manually then turn on ils it wont control the plane....... i used to play this long time ago, and i used to be able to land the aircarft thro auto pilot i think i used the GPS for most of it all i had to do was control the altitude, can anyone help me

ok, hears how you do it
go to 2000feet above the runway. Then find the ILS frequincy of the runway, and type it into the NAV1.
Manually line up with the runway and then fly at 2000feet above the runway height,
turn on your autopilot and APR hold. The plane will then decend and line up perefectly with the runway for you.
THIS IS NOT AUTOLAND it will just stay on the glide slope and localizer for you, so it wont flare.

Also you need to make sure your GPS/NAV switch is set to NAV and not GPS, also if you are flying a backcourse you will need to use the BACKCOURSE button, instead of the APPROACH button, in which case you will have a localizer, but no glideslope, so you will have to control your altittude manually............ ;D

You can pick up the ILS freq. higher than 2000 feet. You can also approach the runway on an angle and when you intercept ILS, it will line you up with the runway. This is provided that you have done what has been stated in the previous posts.

It takes a bit of learning, but don't give up. It is well worth learing how to do ILS approaches. When you get comfortable with it, add some real bad weather and try an ILS approach and see if you don't pucker really tight. lol
