I need some advice about the best settings to use in FS 2004 to enable the program to run smoother, I have tried numerous display settings but things are still very jerky.
CPU : 2533 MHz
Bus Speed : 133 MHz
Motherboard : Dell Dimension 8200
System : Dell Dimension 8200
BIOS : Dell A06
Memory : 1023 MB
Sound : SB Live! Wave Device
Video : NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 128MB
Joystick : Saitek X36F & X35T
FS9
My Traffic
Ultimate Traffic
A lot of payware aircraft
I have changed my Nvidia PCI Latency to 64, helped a bit but not much. My display is 1024 x 768 32 bit 75 htz refresh rate.

Install the latest drivers from Nvidia - I have a ti4200 - 64 Mb and couldn't get the AA to work properly until I installed the latest drivers.
Don't set all the sliders in FS on the maximum, it will make your system go shaky... ;)
Try lowering detail in clouds, scenery, etc until you reach acceptable framerates.

Are you running default aircraft, if you are then you should be able to max out. I heard something about NVIDIA and how they are pretty bad graphics cards. You may want to look into buying a new graphics card

Your BUS of 133 is the bottle neck. Good luck

Sorry that this isn't much help.
ADDITIONAL:
Your using two AI traffic programs? I don't know, but I think one would override the other. Adding more traffic certianly causes slow downs.
I don't know of a program that will "optimize" FS2004. And I don't think you need a new graphics card.

with these specs, you should be able to bring up the settings fairly high, but not in all sceneries - there are areas like Heathrow that are incredibly heavy on processor and graphics
if you

Thanks for all the advice guys, things are running a lot smoother now, removing AI traffic gives the biggest frame rate boost on my system. One final question, would running my flight sim on a seperate drive make any difference ?.
