I have noticed.
you have a very limited selection of things you can ask the tower.
what if I have an emergency?

Cross your fingers and change your pants. Those are about the only other options you've got.

More on the point, the default ATC is severely limited. This uncle Bill decided to dish out and unless you fly on-line or use Radar Contact... that's all folks.
