I am now on a quest for FS gauges that would be RVSM complient in the real world for use on all my turbine/jet aircraft. Like ADC driven altimeters and so on. Am I being a bit over the top in my quest for realism?

Depends on how real you want it... and how much you enjoy searching/modifying as opposed to flying!

Well, lets see. I can't think of a single plane I ever downloaded that I did not research and then improve in some way to the purpose of making it closer to the real world version. Most freeware sim planes are designed by people with an emphasis on "sim" or "game". Therefor, panel layouts will reflect that, avionics will reflect that and so on. Good example is that I can think of a number of advanced realistic avionics gauges available but yet many panel makers simply choose default bendix king. Rudder and elevator trim controls are typically panel mounted for conveninece to use but realistically they are not actually on the main panel in realworld planes. In short, lots of compromises are used.

The fun thing about the FS series is thatwhatever you wist to do is totally cool - and probably acheiveable if you work har enough at it.
There are many on this forum that like hyper-realism; I'm one of them. Many modders produce excellent quality work - finding just the right bits and assembling them into a great aircraft can be a real joy.
Good luck in your quest.

May I suggest REALITY-XP for more realistic FS9 gauges. I use the GNS 530 GPS in F1's Meridian (with S-TEC 55 A/P) and the Honeywell 1000 in F1's ATR72. Cool.
