Will we ever see an FS2004 videos section?

Postby Steve_Butka » Sun Apr 10, 2005 4:52 pm

I started making videos about 2 months ago and I have always been a fan of screenshots, but until I edited and made my first video I never knew just how much fun making them really was.

I know other sim websites have video sections but to be honest, sim v is the only forum that i really feel attached to.

Does anyone here make videos?  Would anyone use a videos forum to show off their work?  I knwo I would... :)

I've made a couple videos as well as a few other people.  I've requested a video section as well. I suppose the more requests SimV gets, the more they'll think about it.

They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

Yep, it sure would be nice, as long as we could limit the bandwidth on downloads especially the first week! Could you imagine the bandwidth our users would pull down if we were to open a vidseo section with a few videos?  ;)

I think it would be really interesting to see other videos. You should put this in the Site Suggestions forum. Let's hope Pete sees this! :)

Well to be honest, I wouldn't mind being able to link to files form my own space.  I have my own domain for a school organization which I am the Chairman of and paid for out of my own pocket, so hosting some videos on my space wouldn't be impossible.  I'm sure with a good Codec we can keep our file sizes down and upload our files to other places.

After all, we wouldn't be embedding out videos into posts but rather linking to external sites, ya know?  I don't think it's on the same level as SimV screenshots where bandwith can be a big issue.

Why not just have the links to the videos go to their site ?
It would kill your bandwidth if they were on your site !

Watch this space. It has been on the cards for some time now that we have the bandwidth under control :)

But --- as always no outside links will be allowed because these mean simply that the link will become dead within a period of time. Al files have to be here at SimV because I don't want files with bad links to dead sites ....

Oh man, could it be happening?  I'd LOVE a videos section!  Video competitions!  YAY!  lol
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

With the amount of enjoyment this SimV site provides to a LOT of people........... the Premium Membership is certainly a way to "give a little back".  Glad you brought that up.......... particularly when we are talking about such a bandwidth intensive thiing like video.
