Pratically, one can start their engines, with CTL+ E, (1 .2)or sometimes , right off the proper switches on the panel.

Now , not all aircrafts, including jets have these ON-OFF switches. In this time of expensive fuel,

..as you probably know already you can assign any single key or combination of keys to whatever action you fancy.......I have Engine Auto Shutdown on the Tab key....just one hit and it's done...........just click Settings/Assignments and scroll down the list, then make your choice...........commoner  ;)

Just a completely different question, but can a 767 pushback with out the need of a tug or what ever its called?
When we went to Tenerife on a 767 we pushed back and immediately after pushing back we straight off, there is usually a short time for the tug to detach etc. Thats why i thought it had its own.

Got me thinking for the rest of the flight.!

I think the last thing you would want as an engine shut down key is a one hit it's done combo.

For example, it's easier for me to accidentally hit TAB then CTRL SHIFT F1. ;)

Don't think so as the reverse thrust is not powerful enough to achieve a pushback- and you would have noticed the noise  and the separation of the casing of the turbofans.

Oh definitely I was just saying for some people it might be a great idea. But definitely you can do that, and it will be a lot easier for the new people.

Heck Commoner, now that I think about it not a lot of keys are around the left of the keyboard, so TAB is a good idea. :)

It depends on the type of gate and surounding circumstances, but I do believe what you experienced was a powerback, give a little thrust reverse and it pops back on ya.. :)

As I say it depends on the circumstances but sometimes they can powerback other times they can't... ;-)

Hope this helps.. ;)
