Just wondering what planes are used for long huals like lets say the 737 or 757.  Also what planes are used for crossing the atlantic like from Miami to frankfurt Germany

737 can't really handle long hauls, which are defined as longer than 6 hours.  The 757 can be used on long-hauls, but more often you'll find the 747, 767, 777, A320, A330 and A340 on most long-hauls.  As for trans-oceanic flights, the 757 is not a preferred aircraft.  Everything else up there should do the trick.

DC-10 and MD-11 as well, under both categories.

Add the L1011 to that list too

Are we talking Commercial or Genera Aviation...because my friend who flys a Dassault Falcon 2000 goes to Europe very often from the US in it.  The reason why is becasue they have very longs ETOPS

And do you want aircraft that are regularly used by comercial aviation or do you want all that are capable? The list could get rather large and include props as well.

I was mainly just curiuos as too what planes are used for diffrent lenght of trips on average.

But its different when your actually in the cockpit and flying something real, as oppose to sitting here at my desk. Auto-pilot does most of the flying, and aside from skipping the flight by moving my plane Icon on the map. How do you guys sit through it?

Ha ha!  I wondered when that would come up.  I think most of these "long haul" simmers just leave the prog running overnight so they can rack up hours.  Personally, I'm bored to death by anything over an hour.

I just went from Geneva to Rome in my KingAir.  That was tolerable so I thought I'd go to Gibraltar.  When FSNavigator estimated 4 hours I did the old "move aircraft here" to get within VOR range.

If you don't understand now, you never will.  It's just one of those things.  Some people like it, most don't.  Don't try to explain to a person who doesn't care one bit about planes why you love aviation so much-they won't understand.  The same is true here.

I love flying and aviation, I wouldn't be preparing myself to become a pilot if I wasn't. My point was, It's different when your actually flying because its real. Its harder with FS9 because I'm sitting at my desk, watching T.V while I fly. I guess what ruins the whole thing is that I'm not actually flying anywhere. I'm just landing at a different airport in the game. Not like I'm gonna open my door and be in a different country.

Turning the sim rate up to 16x helps...turns a 4 hour flight into under an hour. Just climb to altitude, wait for an ATC handoff, don't check in again, and cruise at 16x until you're 80-160 miles out (depending on your altitude). Then slow down to 1x, check in with the local ATC, and carry on with approach and landing.

Thats what I do, minus the time acceleration-I just do the whole skipping out on ATC part.
