Addon Effects?

I'm having some troubles here, I've just been on a spree of getting some nice military addons.  And almsot all of them are coming with custom effects.  I do what I think I'm supposed to do as take them out of the 'effects' folder that was downloaded and move them into the 'effects' folder thats in the main 'fs9' folder.

Though when I go in game, none of the effects show up, afterburners, wing contrails, nothing!  Is there a setting I must have one or something?  Or is it just my computer?

Make sure that in addition to putting the effects into the main FS9 effects folder, you put any textures into the right folder too!

Make sure you follow all the instructions in the download. Make sure that all the files you were suppose to get, you got.

Effects are controlled in numerous ways, by XML gauges, entries in the acft.cfg file and/or panel.cfg file.

Did the instructions mention anything about "Editing" any other files in FS9?

Some effects are also triggered with certain keys.

Fly the acft. again and try hitting the "I" get. This gets you smoke and many times contrails on some acft. Also hit the "L" key for your lights. Some effects are tagged off of that if not off of XML gauges.

Also, there had been a few acft. effects that wouldn't appear unless you cycled through the panel views once. Can't remember the reason why, but it was true with certain acft. and effects.

Good luck!

One thing I've found with the F-14B.  I always start in Virtual Cockpit. I have to go to the 2D cockpit so the gauges load. Then I can go back to 3D. All the effects then work.
