why is that its impossible to save instant replays?? you could save them on 2k and 2002. It's just so annoying having to watch my favourite fs moments in a jumpy low frame rate flight vid.

It would just take up too much space if you saved every replay.  Download Fraps (Google it) and make your own vids.   ;)

Yep, it's GREAT.  Personally I prefer the older version of it.  You may have your own preferences, that's just the one I like best.

They're both good, it's just a preference of mine.  You could always try em out and see which one you like better. ;)

I have fraps and have gotten some great vids from it! It's totally free, and the only downside is that you can only take 29 second videos. But if you like it that much, you can buy it and take long videos. :)

FS9 Video Record will do the following:

"Flight Simulator's Flight Videos offer a fun and useful tool for evaluating your performance as a pilot. The only limit on recorded flight length is the available space on your hard disk.

Recording a Flight Video
Recording a flight video is simple. You can choose the recording rate for your video, which determines how often the simulator samples the flight data. Increasing the rate improves the video quality, while decreasing the rate makes the video file smaller.
To record a flight video
On the Options menu, click Flight Video.
Choose a recording interval from the Recording interval list.
Click Record new clip to start recording.
When finished recording, press ESC.

Saving a Flight Video

Use the Save Video dialog box to name and describe your recorded video. You can also review what you've recorded so far, or resume recording.

To save a flight video

During the flight, while recording, press ESC.
In the Save Video dialog box, type a name for the video.
In the Video Clip Title box, type a description of the video's contents (optional).
Note: You cannot change this description later.
Click OK.
- or -
Click the Review button to watch the video.
- or -
Click the Resume button to continue recording this video.

Playing a Flight Video
Use the Flight Video dialog box to play the flight videos.
To play a flight video
On the Options menu, click Flight Video.
Select a video in the Saved video clips list.
Click Play Clip.
When you're finished watching the video, press ESC.

Deleting a Flight Video
Use the Flight Video dialog box to delete unwanted flight videos.
To delete a flight video
On the Options menu, click Flight Video.
Select a video in the Saved video clips list.
Click Delete Clip.

Sharing a Flight Video
You can share a flight video with friends, as long as they have the same version of Flight Simulator installed. Flight videos are stored in .fsr files. If you're using Flight Simulator with Windows XP, .fsr files are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files. If you're using previous versions of Windows, .fsr files are saved in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\Flights\Myflts. You can copy the files to removable media drives (using floppy disks, Zip disks, CD-R discs, or similar media) or send them to other Flight Simulator players via email."

I think we discussed this part before.  If you're producing a video of ANY sort, and you keep the same shot running for that long, you're going to put your audience to sleep.

Never, ever, ever should you go more than 8-15 seconds without changing the camera position.  It's just bad filmmaking.

It would be nice however to be able to save an instant replay. Flight Video is nice but seems every time I turn that darn thing on I mess up but when I make some of my best maneuvers is when the video isn't recording. I go back and watch the replay and it looks fantastic but there's no way of saving it. Don't know why. Instant Replay uses the same mechanism as the flight video but Microsoft didn't make the replays savable.

As for sharing videos you also need to make sure the person you are sharing with has the same aircraft installed as the one you used or they will see a default cessna. Quite a problem if you make a video using a high speed jet. Ever see a Cessna do a high speed low level flyby inverted?  ;D

The way the flight videos and instant replay works is by saving the data only of the flight then replaying that as if it were on autopilot. Neither one saves the actual screen image. If it did that the saved file would be huge for any length video.

If what you're trying to do is actually save the instant replays, that's possible with Fraps too.  Just play the replay and record it. ;)
