Of course. I don't know for certain but expect it was originally developed for military use. Most things are & later adapted for civil applications. As a matter of interest, the Norden bombsight fitted to the B-17 during WWII was connected to the autopilot allowing the bombardier to control the aircraft during the bombing run. http://www.twinbeech.com/norden_bombsight.htm

Yep. Some smaller aircraft won't and I'm not sure how many front line fast jets do...

is this question for FS9 Military planes?

If so the answer is yes. Although the autopilot controls are really tiny on most aircraft. There are pop light controls that also have the autopilot setting panel attached to them!

Note that with millitary aircraft the auto pilot can maintain control of the aircraft to certain speed limits. You have to do trial and error to figure out the perimeters for each aircraft.

another note is if you cannot find an auto-pilot control in the particular aircraft you are using. You can always put the autopilot controls in the aircraft CFG as a guage or a pop up window!

That is if you have knowledge of how to edit aircraft and panel CFG files. It is real easy! If you need further assistance feel free to email me here at SimV! Happy hunting!

okay, thanks everyone. Now how do I get the autopilot to pop up a gauge or in a window?? (on military planes)

as for the speed limits, im fairly certain that wont affect me as im bit a scenic flyer and rarely exceed 220 knots in fighters.

I wrote this for FS2000 but the principle is the same. http://www.simviation.com/lair/AddGPS.htm You can add any pop-up window to any panel using this method. Copy the actual entries from one of the default panels as the gauge names in FS9 might be different.

Yep, assuming you know where to get your bitmaps and all.
