Very strange for an stupid player as I: the few main instruments displayed when I press "w" key in the cabin view does not appear (I see just the empty front scenery)but the problem only exhibits IN THE ADD ON PLANES(all of them)not in the default ones !!!.Thanks
 Can anyone give me some help? And ,in adition to the clevers and kinds of this valuable forum is any human being that has write for the msfs9 or fs2002 a paper a book or some reasonable compendium of the basic structure and program organization of the game? As you all know is bad to be an idiot just striking keys...

Hi Osvep, welcome to SimViation. I don't have an answer to your first question but to your second about the book. I understand that you want to know the keyboard assignments to certain commands. When you bought an original game you should have a booklet that came in the box with the game. On the back it says "Basic Key Commands". You can also find them in the game itself. When flying open you Kneeboard and press on the "A" on the right side. This will give all key commands in the simulator.

As to your first question there might be something worng with displaying the Mini-panel, but I leave that to somebody with more knowledge of this game.

You said in the first part of your post that you see the main 2D panel so I'm going to guess that this is OK.

When you press the W key (or the button on your joystick or yoke that you have set) FS 2004 will cycle through the different views--Cockpit, Virtual Cockpit, Spot View, and Tower View.

Some Add-On aircraft do not come equipped with a Virtual Cockpit--in this case when you cycle your views you will see the 2D main panel, a full-screen scenery view without any surrounding Virtual Cockpit (the empty screen that you describe), Spot View, and Tower View.

This is normal for Add-On aircraft that do not come equipped with a Virtual Cockpit.  In case that you do not know, you cannot add a virtual cockpit to an aircraft that does not have one.  The kind people that design and make these add-on aircraft have to make a Virtual Cockpit as part of the aircraft model.

As far as a book or reference for basic key commands I agree with Sir_Crashalot to use the Kneeboard.  Just so you know there is also a file in your FS 2004 main aircraft folder called kneeboard_keys.htm.  You can double-click this file anytime that FS 2004 is not running and then click the printer icon at the top of the Internet Explorer Icon Bar.  This will give you a hard-copy printout that you can refer to at any time.

Sounds like you have deleted the 'default' folder from the '...\Flight Simulator 9\aircraft\...' folder.


The displayed instruments are called a mini-panel. The default a/c have theirs coded in their 'panel.cfg' file while most add-ons use an appropriate mini-panel from the

'....Flight Simulator 9.0\aircraft\default\panel\panel.cfg' file.

You can recover the folder from CD1. (or check your Trash Bin and restore it if there)

The 'w' key cycles 2-D views, while the 's' keys cycle thru 2-D, V/C, Tower, Spot views.

That's right Dave!  I had forgotten.  I have my views mapped to my yoke and joystick so I never really worry with the keyboard view keys...
