Taxi lights??

The taxi lights on my 757-200 are too bright.  :o What I get is a blinding white light. It is soo bright that I can't even see the taxiway marks or the edge of the taxiway!

Is there a way I can modify the brightness of the taxi light in the .CFG or .AIR?

Thanks for your help.

Hi f-16.....could be wrong but I don't think it can be done that way,  but search AvSim for.... fs2k4_ll.zip  this tones down the taxi and landing lights some...commoner ;)

Thanks Commoner. Thats just what the doctor ordered.. :)

I wonder if this will improve my night time FPS. My 757-200  taxi light was waaaay too bright and seemed to hamper my frames slightly..

That would be cool if it helps my FPS.

..'s ok F-16...that's another thing we need in the next version....a DIMMER SWITCH on the panel for those damned lights...commoner.  ;D

I agree, some taxi lights are so bright that you can't see the taxiway  :(

You might want to make sure your landing lights are off or you might adjust the brightness on your montor . Bright lights can be really dangerous for real pilots .

That's an excellent idea Commoner!  I have a headlight dimmer switch in my Jeep -- why not have one in my 757?

Hmmm...Maybe I can also install a set of fog lights on my 757 too...No, on second thought, maybe this is a bad idea.

Once you're down and turning to clear the runway turn off the Landing Lights but leave Taxi Lights on. They're extremely dim but bright enough to light the ground.

...but that doesn't solve the problem of your LLs being too bright and  you aren't allowed to land without them so if you can't see the active.......well?.............commoner

What my post means is that my lights are sooo bright that I can not see the edge of the taxiways... in on other words I can not tell where the edge of the taxiway is in relation to the ground. The ground is lit up so bright that it looks like the taxiway.   :o :o

However this seems to be fixed now that I installed that light file. Now I can see where the edge of the taxiway is in relation to the ground textures. I can just make out the taxi lines as well. (thats why they are lit up right?)

am i the only one who thinks the landing and taxilights in fs are totally useless? what i mean is that they don't really light up anything but just give the illusion of a lit surface by putting an ugly white layer over it. i find it much easier to see the runway/taxiway with the lights completely switched off, but of course that's unrealistic too :(.
this is one of the things i wished ms would fix somehow in future releases but i understand that it might be difficult to programm the lights so they actually brighten the textures :(

I have to agree with Yurei for the most part.

In some of my planes I can't see the taxi lights from the cockpit, just the outside views. Now the control shift eight without the Num Lock on is sometimes the trick but mostly I just don't use either of them.

Sure that is why there are lights in the runway.

I'd love to see ambient lighting at airports. Right now it looks like a world wide blackout with only the runway and taxiway lights working. Oh ther's a few lights on poles but those only light up a cone right under the pole. Once outside that cone it's pitch black once again.

Wonder how you would go about programming ambient lighting?

...Hi Matt....here's a pic of Gatwick from the only bit of Payware I use....it's Just Flights. British Airports for the SE of the UK.

Nice lighting there..shows what can be done.....note the AI traffic with lights ablaze........commoner ;)

....BTW..it is a bit of a FR killer but worth it IMHO.
