Looking around and so touch and go pretty often, what does that mean do you land and not stop if so excatly why would you do that.  ;D

Just to possibly add in, it could also help flying the formations of the airways (e.g downwind leg, short final) and of course, practice makes perfect!

I have a log book with close to 200 hours. The really funny thing is that I think that I just figured out how to tell where the localizer is to begin my glide slope.

It's really not so much practice for normal (full stop) landings as it is a way to learn how to abort a landing, even after your wheels have touched down (examples: you see another aircraft in your way, or you realize you don't have room left to stop safely, or you notice your gear is up as you're about to flare for touchdown). Just taking off from a stopped condition doesn't really prepare you for going from landing configuration to takeoff configuration quickly- before you hit something, run out of runway, or land with your gear up!
Obviously, doing t&gs you learn how to make an approach the same way  you would for a normal landing, but again, there's a difference... a normal full-stop landing isn't really over until you've taxied clear of the runway, so full-stop practice is the only proper way to learn that set of skills (braking, after-landing checklist, etc.)

I often do touch and goes. My favorite airport for touch and go practice is KMDT.

Well, yes unfortunatly for our friends on other continents that would be the case.  If I choose to do trans atlantic (if I had time) then I would need to go to FsCharts.com or somewhere I can download plates from the world at large.
