MD-83, Cherokee, and Dash-8

Postby Saratoga » Sat Feb 26, 2005 10:12 pm

Everyone remember in 2002 when there was an add-on that made these flyable? Is there a matching addon for 2004. I looked through the aircraft.cfg files but couldn't find anything to signal they weren't flyable.

Also, on the subject of the MD-83. Anyone know if there is a World Travel paint scheme available for it? Thanks.

I'm sure there is, but why would you want to? Since they're AI, they have poor flight models, no panel or VC, and not great external graphics. There are many many freeware addons that will look and perform a whole lot better than the AI ones.

yeah, not an addon, more of a simple changing of the .AIR file. there is a tutorial i read here on SimV. it shows you how to cahnge the MD-80, and i made the simple changes to the Dash-8 (forgot about the cherokee). it aircraft works fine, except for 3 problems so far

1: you need a panel
2: they have bad turning radius, remember, these aircraft weren't designed to be flown by pilots, only AI.
3: the gear can only be lowered under a certain speed, 125 kts i believe. that is a stalling speed, and has to be changed in the aircraft.CFG file. the tutorial shows you how to change that.

if you plan to coninue, you do need 1 program however, airED. you need this to modify the .AIR file. when you  open the .AIR file, there is

....please hold, locating program....

open the file MD_83.air file and select

*Aircraft Type=2 - this means aircraft is AI only

a window will pop up next to =2, the 2 needs to be a 0

*aircraft Type=0 - this means aircraft is both Pilot and AI.

there's some help.
