Strange Visual Feature FS2004 (Now With Screens)

Postby JonVic » Fri Feb 25, 2005 10:38 am

I am a little confused with my FS2004 when i view a plane from the external view and the 'camera' is behind the plane i can see a sort of line infront of the aircraft that goes along the ground and as it goes it makes the scenery a little shade lighter in colour, has anyone experienced this it is very strange? i dont remember this in previous versions of FS

this screenshot is large(sorry) but is needed to show the problem as a small pic is not clear enough
the line that you can see moves forward at the same distance and speed from the plane all the time and also does the same thing when you are onboard the plane looking down and is visable on all surfaces of that kind of colour

Yeah I've noticed that. I think its just the change in textures. No biggie. ;)

Yep, I've seen that too... doesn't happen on my comp any more though, try turning up whatever setting is affiliated with rendering textures.

That might fall under category of draw distance...

If you go outside you'll notice that you see less detail on things that are far away and more detail on things that are closer.  For example, you can see blades of grass on your lawn but not on lawns farther away.

fs9 tries to do the that by painting more detail on features that are closer.  The point where fs9 decides whether something is "closer" results in that line you see that marches across the scenery in front of you.

And this feature backfires at night-we've all seen the ugly 4-pronged box when flying over water at night  :-/

That is the MIP line, where the sim switches from the last MIP level to the full-sized texture.

I didn't know that the distance varied with your graphics settings.  Thanks.
