MINIMUM Fixes For FS-2006, Post Here

Postby Gary R. » Wed Feb 23, 2005 7:15 pm

I really hope that MS includes for FS 2006 a minimum set of improvements that would help a lot for immersion.

1. Option to start with a cold and dark cockpit .

2. Flightplan printouts that automatically include lat/long of all way points. Now, one must go into the flightplan folder and print the plan.cfg for that.

3. TFR's in the US, (Washington DC) etc.

4. Basic LNAV FMC's in the airliners.

TFRs? Let's break down the terminology-

TEMPORARY flight restrictions

I'm not sure how'd they be implemented since alot of them aren't there all, or even most of the time.

And I'm not flaming you, just wanted to find out how to use bold and underline at the same time. Now I know. ::) :P ;D

Okay, well maybe the stricter ones like DC.  It's a real production flying into DCA for real.  Also, Washington Center is now Potomac Tracon and in future FS ATC should reflect that, its permanent.

Improved rudder and ground handling, like the one we have in X-plane

Get The darn TA/TL's right in the various regions. That is more important than to me than some TFR's that ,as Beef stated, will vary from time to time.

Sloping runways would be really neat (available in X-plane aswell)

ATC able to give speed commands

Better landing lights

I have left out plenty of stuff regarding commercial aviation, but add on developers will take care of my wishes  :)

Ahh, yes, sloping runways would kick ass!  :D

Howsabout some gates that actually line up with planes? It wouldn't be that hard...

It's a shame there is bad blood between Austin Meyer and MS.  If a FS/Xplane collaberation happened taking the strongest points of each and eliminating the weak areas that would be one incredible "as real as it gets sim".

The ATC needs a complete overhaul, not an adding. It should follow the real procedures if not precisely at least better than the pale imitation of a poor job it does now.

As  for scenery a better use of lighting would be very welcome, with shadows that do not hang over thin air like sometimes happens now. The clouds should project shadows as well.

And I really hope that in FS2006 the water will not be something that resembles a smurf's pee like in FS2004.

Actually, I have water effects turned down to save frames cause most of my flying is done in planes that seat at least 50 passengers anyway.  What I've noticed, at least in the case of my own Susqeuhanna River is that it actually looks more like the real river than with all the reflection turned on. With water effects turned on it looks a lot more like the Carribean than a river which drains a few hundred miles worth of farm, coal, and industrial lands.

Ok well, update the ATC so you can turn lights on, speeds are provided by them for the airliners where necessary, but give some latitude when it's not busy. Also, allow people to request Special VFR depatures, and don't allow pilots to select approaches that would send them into horrible weather when lining up. Don't put pilots lives on the line basically.
Fix the major highways and rivers.

If they do do things to the ATC though such as speed restrictions, make sure less-experienced pilots can turn them off!

I think they should remove the 100000 ft barrier, and allow you to go into space, just like in X Plane. Also add in no fly zones, and if you tresspass, you will be escorted out by a F-16 or MiG, and if that don't work...get your @$$ shot off by a AAM or SAM :P....and add damage effects, so you can enjoy your trip down ;D :-X

But seriously....Nexus, can you give me a heads up on some of those addons? A link perhaps? Thanks! I promise to love the Swedes more than my life for 24 hours ;D ;)

The REAL runway at Birmingham Intl. UK (EGBB) ;D
Anybody who's been there or knows it will understand why I'm grinning ;)

For those who don't know, search A.Net looking for : Airport : UK, Birmingham Int
Category : Airport Overviews ;)

Um..........
  • Removing Wembley Stadium?
  • Adding Cardiff's Millenium stadium
  • Replacing that ugly white tower block at the end of R/way 10 at EGLC with ExCel (like it should be)
  • Better looking Fairford and Farnborough (and many other military airports worldwide)
  • Better landclass world-wide
  • Real airlines as standard
  • ATC overhaul
  • Something other than Bo(r)eing
and maybe, just maybe
  • World Air Displays at the official on the official dates (and ONLY at these times)
I could continue, but will stop there.

You read my mind Nexus...  I think accuratly (well... heck... ANY slope would be good!) sloping runways would make me VERY happy.  (Mile Hi is FLAT??!  WHAT??!!  The thing has like a 35% gradient to it in real life!)    Also, maybe for some of the other back country airports, have them curved like they are in real life.

Anyway, that's all I want right now.  :)

Hi Stormtropper. Try www.uk2000scenery.com it's for 2k4 and very good, gates come to the plane, trucks service them etc only for GB though. Hope this helps Chris
