737 landing speed

Hi everyone!

Im using the "737 experience" by moach. Its great, but im wondering what is the Landing speed of which a 737 lands at. Just curious because sometimes i can stall an sometimes go too fast.

Around 135 (give or take) kts for the 737-700 with flaps 30 is usually enough. I Believe the 737 Experience is the -700 model, right?

You can actually determine the speed yourself by holding a 3 degree attitude throughout the approach and then adjust the speed to fly the GS accordingly, it's not that hard once you get used to it

Comparing the 734 and 737-700  is like comparing apples and oranges.  :) The numbers for the 734 is no way near the same values for the 700 NG

Different wings, flap systems, weights etc etc  :)

...wji, don't suppose you'd care to repeat that same experiment with a FULL tank...might make interesting reading and prove that weight makes a difference (in FS9 at least) to the speed required...commoner  :)

I heard wji talking about 129kias. Im pretty new to simming, but what does the kias mean?

is it what the aircraft speed is measured in?

never heard of kias before and i feel stupid now!

KIAS - Knots Indicated Airspeed

It's just Knots, however Airspeed differs from groundspeed which is visible through the GPS I believe?

A tid bit of topic but 1 month ago I did a flight with the stock 737 and after flying the PMDG model I was very suprised that the stock aircraft accellerates like a rocket...I could have taken off with 1/2 thorttle and still would have been able to rotate...

also about 3 years ago I always thought that the IAS indicator was in MPH (miles per hour) and when I was flying at 35000 feet and only doing 250 ias I was very frustrated also when landing I would approach with the B777 around 180-190 ias.... ...

there are specs out there probably on landing speeds at different weight configurations. Also if using an FMC supported 737NG such as PMDG, the approach reference page calculates and lists 3 landing speeds at different flap configurations. It likes you to choose which one also. (767 PIC is similar also)

On a full load with fuel close to 10% at the end of a medium haul for a 737-800 Vref is usually about 145-155kts and you add +5 kts depending on surface wind/crosswind conditions.
The final approach(<10 miles) usually at Vref+20 then decreases as you approach but just what I read.

If you're stalling try that +5 to landing speed technique. Also some practices say at 50ft AGL(above ground) and usually over the threshold, you'd want to then decrease throttle to idle just before you flare(start to flare at least by 30 ft AGL). (flare angle on attitude usually abouts 6 deg. >9 can bump the tail of a 737-800) ouch!
