which cgf to change?

Postby gbwnab » Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:37 pm

Hello,

I can find two .cfg files.  If I am interested in adding visual damage, which area do I go to in order to change?

1) I can find the .cgf in the username/application data/micorsoft/fs9? Is this where I should be looking?  If so I can only find one visual_damage:0  Will changing THIS to a visual_damage:1 change ALL damage?

OR

2) I can also find the .cgf under program files/microsoft games/flightsim/  Then I click on airplanes, and I can see all of the airplanes that I have.
Do I click on the every aircraft individually and change to visual_damage:1 ?

I am a little scared to get in there and mess things up.

Thanks for the help.

gbwnab,

Change it on EVERY single aircraft in the "Aircraft" folder that you want to activate it on.

best,

you have to go into the aircraft.cfg of each aircraft and add the line
visual_damage=1
if the line is already there make sure it equals 1 and not 0. There are several crash FX programs available, try this one for example ftp://63.217.28.218/1misc/Crash.zip
Eg:
[fltsim.0]

sim=BellHuey2

sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=
prop_anim_ratio=1.66
atc_model=
visual_damage=1
ui_manufacturer=Bell
ui_type="UH-1H Huey"
ui_variation="Standard Huey"
description=The Bell Uh-1H is one of the most widely recognized helicopters in the world.  Its history as a workhorse of the Viet Nam war, as well as its many roles in peace time have given this aircraft a very wide audience.

ok, ive read all the posts. if i'm correct then the mooney that i have cut and pasted below should show visual damage??? i guess my other problem might be the downloaded crash program.  can anyone tell me, when i download the crash program, where exactly to i install it to, and do i need to do anything with it once i put it there?

thanks all!

atc_id=N20TMB
ui_manufacturer=Mooney
ui_type="Bravo"
ui_variation="White with black"
description="Mooneys are built to go fast. A focus on speed seems natural for a company that at one time offered a plane powered by a Porsche engine. Although the partnership with the Germans didn't last, Mooney's commitment to speed certainly has. In keeping with this idea, Mooney has experimented with a number of "big engine" models. The Bravo is Mooney's fastest\s with 270 hp all the way to 25,000 ft, the Bravo can attain speeds up to 220 KTAS, making it the fastest single-engine airplane currently produced."
