STRM Terrain mesh - worth it

Postby legoalex2000 » Mon Feb 14, 2005 7:11 pm

man, the global terrain mesh is something good to d/l.

although now i'm glad i put in my new 30gb harddrive, because FS9 is now 9.01 Gb, 3x what is starts from. but still a long way to go....

i reccmoned d/l the STRM terrain mesh, if you can, mind you each file can range from .5 mb to 14.6 mb, depending on what area you are acquiring.

thats all!

I have already installed a handful of the terrain areas for North America. I have included Florida, Cuba, Virginia, and Arkansas [my current residence].

I am going to setup the terrain area for Nicaragua and the ramainder of the Carribean.

I like the Terrain mesh. It finally brings out the land.

I have covered the world (at least everything between 60 degrees north and 60 degrees south since that's the limit of the SRTM data).

I use FSGenesis mesh and cannot imagine ever going to a place without it. 8)

I like freeware. It looks like a pain to install havent tried yet.
From what I can see fsgenesis is payware Most of the US is 10 bucks. not sure about the world.  I'll stick with freeware only cuase were moving soon and funds are limited.  I read the readme file but a little confusing I'll try tonight too see if I can get it working.  Man you all show me something new everyday I had no idea there was so much stuff out there.  Dont have time to fly cuase Im always installing stuff.    :o ;D ;D
