Switch views in ATR42-500 takes a long time

Hi fellow members,
I have been reading the forums for a week or so now and I didn't see my issue covered. Here it is:
I downloaded the Air Dolomiti ATR42-500 and it flies great. I recently upgraded to a P4 3.2 on a 915PBL with 512M DDR2 and a 256MB X700Pro PCIe. When I switch views (s-key) esp. between VC and spot - the view will switch but it may be 40 seconds or so before the animation continues. During this time there is still engine noise. This happens whether I go from outside to inside or inside to outside. It doesn't happen on any other plane - built-in or add-on.
I know a quick solution is to re-install or dump the plane. I just wanted to know what is this phenominon called. Has anyone else ever seen this.

Sounds to me like a video problem. Something having to do with memory, or the processing speed.

Hi
The textures are proberly high res 32 bit
to check have alook at the file size if the bigger files are over 1 .5 megs then thats ya prob.
You can convert them to DXT3 textures but will loose some of the sharpness. How? well either grab Martin Wrights DXTbmp program http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
or Imagetool from one of m$ofts SDK its in a few of em

Aumav is exactly right, its the aircraft textures causing the problem. I had a similar problem with one aircraft, I repainted it, and now the problem has gone. You don't need to go to that trouble tho just as above, get hold of DXTBmap and convert the textures.
A bit complex to use though if you have never done it before

I've seen that issue also with some planes but in my case it usually only happens the first time I switch my views around. After that its quicker. I guess the textures go in cache and load a little quicker after that. It makes laugh. I totally appreciate the effort developers put into their creations but if I uploaded any I would want the max people possible to enjoy them therefor my philosphy would be frame friendly as possible because not everybody has the latest of equipment. It would be good if developers would always cater to at least medium range systems.

Yup Gary, as badly as we want it, we don't all have the top of the line systems than make runnin' FS easy and natural. I wish we did, but we don't, and designers need to start thinking about that so people can actually enjoy their airplanes.

Thanks for the info folks! You are correct it is the high-res textures. I got an X700Pro and turned up the aircraft detail to high. I set it back to medium and it loads with little delay.
I may try to convert the textures as suggested since I'm sure I'll more of the newer high-res planes. You guys who create planes are awesome!
Thanks again.
