Odd contrail problem

Postby chomp_rock » Sat Feb 19, 2005 10:52 pm

After reinstalling FS today and making EVERYTHING how it was before I reinstalled I noticed a strange problem. I was sitting at the airport going over the start-up checklist two white lines, like long strings, came dragging across the airport. I looked around and saw them all over wherever an AI aircraft was leaving contrails. This problem really bugs me, anybody know how do fix it?

I also have a problem where the LOD changes by itself for no apparent reason. The clouds turn into multiple grey squares and the textures get all blurry (like I turned the settings ALL of the way down). Any ideas?

For the contrails, that is the symptom of an add-on a/c replacing the FS2004 contrails with those from FS2002.

Locate the contrails on one of the cd's, and copy them into the ..\effects folder.

File names: fx_contrail_l.fx and fx_contrail_s.fx, FS2004 versions have a file date of 5/14/2003.

Cheers,
Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

No, I just backed up my aircraft, effects, gauges, scenery, modules and folders before reinstalling and then copied them over the default folders.

BTW, thanks for that bit of help Dave, it worked well.
