I had the misfortune of having my computer stolen and with it was flight sim 2004 disk 4. I now can't load it on to my new computer, anybody know how I can go about getting the needed files without buying the game again?
thanks

Well...someone might have it real cheap on ebay... otherwise you might be able to copy the files off a friend's disk. The other thing to consider is going to Microsoft support of FS2004, and see what they say.
The only other option I can think of would be to pirate it, but we don't encourage that here.

Hype is right, piracy is NOT a good thing...your best bet is to buy it again and try and get it cheap...so sorry about your misfortane...

This is really tough to answer for some people, as opinions differ. I believe that since you already bought it, you paid for the license to use it. If I BUY a game and lose one of the discs or I get a huge scratch in it, I have no problem with obtaining a new copy however possible. After all, you DID pay for it, right?
*btw software piracy isn't cool in my book, I'm just a poor college student who can't afford to rebuy games
Oh, and M$ won't do a thing to help you regardless if you can prove you purchased it, they don't care, after all, they charge ~$30 for tech support per telephone all/email /rant

It seems M/S might replace a stolen disc. They say a fee may be payable but logically ::) it should only be a quarter of the price (my logic)
Anyway, have a look here.

Can't hurt to ask, hat in hand... they might take pity on you. Whatever the case, if and when you get a new copy, make a backup, then install the no-cd patch so you won't have to leave Disc 4 in the drive...

Dan, when one purchases a game or other application, you're given the license to install THAT COPY on a program. If you copy it, you're breaking the law, regardless of how logical it may seem.

Well, pardon my misinformed piracy statement...guess it's not the same as music.

It's exactly the same as music, hence the little issue with the RIAA lately.

Call microsoft cant hurt I lost my copy of halo sent them a copy of my reciept and they sent me another halo cd. They sent a big notice that this is not microsoft policy blah blah.... but halo was new at the time and 50 bucks so I tried and 2 weeks later got it in the mail.
Its been said but you arent buying the game as much as the licence for that copy of the game your totally within your rights to make several copys of the game for your own use. I used to work for a software company making the cds for the programs and learned that the cd key is the licence for the game once you have that key legally buy buying it your entiltled to a copy of the game or software we used to buy a buisness licence or key for a piece of software like 700 bucks a year but could make as many copies of it as we wanted and bundle it with ours.
