Postby Chris E » Mon Feb 14, 2005 11:07 am

hey, i have been messing around with new places, and are there any aircraft carriers to land and take off from?  or do you need to download one, i thought it would be fun to try that, and i apologize if there already was a topic on this, thanks

Take off from San Fransico Intl and head out into the bay (kinda towards the bridge then left)  There is one out there somewhere about 5nm off the coast.

Wasn't there one at Pearl Harbor in FS2002.  Is it still there in FS2004?

Try Gixer's idea, but as an aid, use the top down view (crtl+s) to get a good fix on it.  Use + and - to zoom in and out.  (Heads up: it changes orientation once you zoom out a certain point)

Another hint: if you're going to be doing t/o's and landings, use a helicopter (fun to fly inside of the ship with) or a piper cub, those are the two I have the most success with.  No other airplane (without downloaded a/c and carrier modications) works very well; they're too slow stoping, and don't take off fast enough.

Good luck!

ok, thanks a lot, and are there any good aircraft carriers that are bigger and will allow like a fighter jet to land on or something, cause that would be fun

look around here, at Avsim, or no-nodes (FLightsim) for a program called 3wirev1.0 or something similar, this allows you to land and takeoff from a carrier! :-)

The previous  version of that catapult/arrestor gauge
did not need this. You might try downloading this
panel and use the gauges that come with it.

   ftp://63.217.28.218/1panels/F18car04.zip

I still use this older version on all my carrier-equiped
aircraft to land on the 20 or 30 CV's that I have
sprinkled about my virtual world.

If so pop on over to windows update and do a scan for updates...

if it isn't already on your pc it will tell you that you need to put it on..;-)

If your wallet isn't too tight, pop over to Best Buy or CompUSA and grab 'Flight Deck III' from Abacus, its only 30 bucks, and it works like a charm, and its got terrific detail on the aircraft carrier....but don't buy it for the aircrafts tho... or you'll be massively dissapointed...

Btw...don't ever buy Vietnam Carrier Ops or WWII Carrier Ops...I made the mistake, and deeply regreat it... :(
