Help with Scenery add ons?

Postby john_wilkes » Mon Feb 07, 2005 4:31 pm

Hi Guys I am new to this forum and and am after some help and guidance if possible, I recently tried to load Linarts scenery files into FS9 and followed the directories as stated in the PDF files. I thought I followed it to the letter but it would appear not. I can now only fly at night and when I fire upFS9 I get an error message stating Scenery .049 file is missing? I have tried to reinstall the orignal scenery file I had to remove and back up but this does not work. Added to this the Linnarts does not work either. Therefore I cannot fly during the day and when I do fly at night I only get a little poor scenery.  ??? I have spent all weekend trying all different ways but to no avail. I really do not want to have to strip everything off and start again, I do not have broadband but if someone has the missing file they could email it to me if that is worth a try? ;)
Cheers for now

Well, technically we can't email it to you. M$ would think that naughty. (unless the file you're talking about was part of Linarts scenery, in which case disreagard everything that i just said)

I'm not familiar with the scenery but your situation sounds like an uninstall, full wipe of your fs9 folder, reinstall.

Maybe someone has a better, more optomistic idea.

And welcome to the forums! ;D

I can't find a Scenery.049 file in FS at all. What is the exact error message? If it is something like Scenery Area 049 then your Scenery.cfg file is referencing a scenery area that isn't avaialable. Default scenery areas in Fs9 don't go up this far so it's referring to an add on scenery. This should however be fixed when you deactivate the new scenery you tried to install. Also did the new scenery overwrite something when you moved the files? I never let any files be overwritten in FS until I've backed them up.

You may try moving your Scenry.cfg out of Fs9 and restarting the sim to see if Fs9 will rebuild the Scenery.cfg. If that works you will have to reactivate all your add on sceneries but you won't have to totally reinstall the sim.
