So I Head for New Orleans to see hoe close i can get to the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the stock Bell 208b. When I get to where It was supposed to be... It's not there! So, I dedcide to travel to the other side of the lake and Lo and Behold:

The ENTIRE causeway in it's 24 mile and 2in (To compensate for the curvature of the earth) glory is on the LAND!

First the George Washington Bridge NOW THIS!

There is no emoticon for what I'm felling right now!

Guys, once again...

As I am a regular, I am technically, for ettiquites sake, not allowed to go off on people so I'll be polite.

M$ is modeling the entire earth. The entire earth. They do not have time to model 99.999% of the local landmarks we all know very well. Just download scenery from here, avsim, etc. Even something as big as the causeway is just not well-known enough to make its way into the game.

I was surprised to notice it missing (just went to have a look in the Swift II out of KNEW), but I'm willing to let it slide- it's an important VFR landmark (believe me, I know!), but it's only a dust-speck in the grand scheme of modelling the entire planet. I'm curious as to what your problem is with the GWB: it's there in my install, although it looks pretty goofy.

Right there with ya beefhole...  I started using FS back in the early 80's, I think it was FS 2.0, when I was in Jr. High.  If any of you could see what that looked like compared to FS9, you wouldn't say a word about a misplaced building, bridge, river or road.  I think there were like 20 airports in all, 1 airplane (which you couldn't even see, just look out the windows), no mesh, all flat, Chicago had all of 2 buildings (Sears and Hancock) and you could only fly in the continental US.  There were NO rivers, NO bridges, NO AI...   :'(

Whenever I start to get down on something I see in FS9, I think back to those days and how much fun I had playing that early version,  ;D it's galaxies better today, even with a few misplaced scenery items...

I was flying around my house today in the sim and realized that nobody cut the grass and a tree was 5ft from where it is supposed to be!   :P

It is a flight Simulator, not a visual reproduction of the entire earth!  ;D  ;D

Check this site out...

http://www.simflight.com/~fshistory/fsh/versions.htm

The second screen shot is pretty close to the version I started with.  That's Miegs field in Chicago and the building, if you wanna call it that, you see in the distance is the John Hancock building.  Nice textures on the panel and runway too.   :D

Can't wait to see how it changes over the next 20 years.....  and M$ can put the roads around my city wherever they want, so long as they put the roads in somewhere.   ;D

Go to: avsim.com:

Search for:  lake_pont_causeway.zip

This file [apparently, I haven't downloaded it] fixes the problem.

Happy Causewaying!

I'm right there with Matt. Would you believe I had a customer bought an Apple IIplus and the software free from me and wanted his money back cuz the flight simulator didn't measure up. When I see what we have now, I don't question much. (Except for the statue of Lady Godiva being missing from Coventry UK.) :o

It is very possible to moan about local landmarks, but you must remeber that Microsoft, as said before, are modelling the whole EARTH. No easy task, trust me.

Hence the creation of add-on scenery! You are able to recreate this landmark if you want to, but, as Dave said, it is supposed to be a Flight Simulator.

Hope I don't sound too rough, and if I do, then I'm sorry!

Heyyy I remember the missing Mackinac Bridge (before the patch).  In fact the addon Big Mac was one of my first screenshots!
