If it's an area where I have a sectional chart I can get a reading on two nav aids and pinpoint my position from that. In other cases (damned sectionals, even outdated ones, are expensive) I use Fs Navigator so my line isn't purple it's black. ;D You can also hold the cursor over an airport or nav aid in Fs Nav and get a fly to heading.

I use my Canada Flight Supplement I recieved from my ppl training. For US, I found a link off of this site that gives me the airport diagrams.
And if I feel like screaming.....then the purple line might come on to get a bearing.

I like to do the classic "y" move. Just push Y and all you troubles are over. Taxi the last 10 feet though. Just to say i did.
For those who dont know y is slew mode.

I usually just look at top-down view to see what taxiways will take me where I want to go. Forget FS ATC anyway...They're too 'high' to know what's going on on the ground.
