P.S. Forgot to add that last months screenshot contest winner was a heli... ;D

I've always found FS helis a bit too squirrely, and if you don't have the right type of joystick it can take a long, long time to master them. But don't let that discourage you, they're a lot of fun :) Me, I stick to flying helis in Operation Flashpoint, it's easier.

Helo's are the bomb  ;D!

They add a different dimension to flight in FS2004.

Look for these following helos here at SimV

Sikorsky u-60 Blackhawk
Bell UH-1 Cobra
Airwolf

These are a few of the hottest rides available right here at the simv 2004 Helo's download section.

They render some challenge to flight and landing on certain objects (rooftops, carriers, and oil rigs for example).

Enjoy!

Yep. I am a helicopter groupie.

Helicopters are the only type of aircraft I fly in Fight Simulator 2K4. Fixed wing aircraft just don't offer the challenge that flying rotary wing aircraft does. And you can stay in one spot in a hover to admire the scenery instead of it whizzing by you. Not to mention you can land in relatively tight spots!

My favorite hellicopter is the Bell 206 BIII JetRanger (hence the username), the 206 L3 and L4 LongRanger, and its four-bladed cousin, the Bell 407.

After that, it's the Bell H-47, Bell 47J2, followed by the Bell 205-A (UH-1), Bell 412, Bell 427, Aerospatiale AS341 Gazelle, AS350 Ecureuil, McDonnell Douglas (or Hughes)MD500E, H500D, and then the Schweizer 300C.

I rarely fly the Robinson R22, primarily because its instrument panel is too small and towards the floor.

I'm with Beefy in that I find them too fiddly so I don't fly them....in fact personally I hate the things.....but I do enjoy buzzin' around in the AutoGyros....all around and in between the city buildings is fun as a short break from the big iron...commoner ;D

I find that helicopters are fantastic things to fly....
..providing you are into going around in ever decreasing circles and finally disappearing up your own tail rotor... ;)...!
...as the saying goes... ;D...!

..otherwise....take a tip from our feathered friends, and stick with machines fitted with "wings"... 8)... ;D...!
...much more sensible... ;)...!
LOL...!

Cheers all...!

Paul...tried it...gave up on it long ago... ::)... ;D...!

P.S. Autogyros are fun....bit dangerous tho'...and very reluctant to stop when landed... ;)...!

P.P.S. I've watched the trainee heli' pilots at my local airfield...It's a larf a minute... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

I love to fly the helos every once in a while. If you have some nice mesh and allot of eye candy, I find taking off and flying them allot of fun. You need to know how to control them though. If you can master hovering them, you will see why! This is a real nice Chinook available here! Check it out!
