Air Traffic Control

I am quite new to Flight Simulation and have only just mastered making an IFR landing with the smaller planes i.e. Cessna and Mooney. What puzzles me is quite often when making the final approach to a landing and reaching the point literally of no return ATC tells me to go around. As this is virtually an impossibility, I am wondering if this is a mistake with Flight Sim 2004 or is it that I am not landing fast enough? Can the experienced members assist me on this matter.
                              Thanking you   Charlie

Its par for the course with the sim ....... Just reduce your traffic settings a bit and hopefully it won't happen as much.

As I have stated before one of FS biggest problems is spacing of aircraft on the glide slope. Wait till you are in a c172rg on final you have been cleared to land number 1 you are about 300 yards out when out of no where a B747-400 flies over you and proceds to land when it was told to follow you and be number 2? which is about what you do in your pants. I now check out the area before I even turn to final to make sure no other traffic is near by if so I then use slew and increase the speed so that the AI will land ahead of me. I know it is not realistic but then niether is a 747 scaring the you know what out you. 8)

You have to use a bit of common sense too. A 747 coming down the slope at 160 will catch up very quickly with a GA doing 80. Therefore listen and look, extend your downwind leg so that you're 1 minute behind the heavy. Alternatively, make sure you're still flying until you're half way down the runway if a biggie is on approach behind you. ::)

You can also practice flapless landings in the "slower" GA aircraft....... that way you are keeping the speed up a bit so the closure rate from the jet traffic behind you is slightly less.

Not to mention ............f you're flying a C172....... maybe don't try to share a runway with the heavy metal crowd....... stick with GA airports.  More realistic anyway.

Thank you guys for your kind words of wisdom. To JBaymore. What you said probably makes a lot of sense. Its  not real to land a Cessna at Heathrow or Gatwick. Once again Thanks to all. A great website.
