Most usefull download?

Postby Marlin » Fri Dec 31, 2004 12:40 am

Being that I'm totally new to the FS, and the huge array of downloads avaible here and around.

I was wondering what your best / most used download is, weather it is a utility or something else.

It really depends on your personal preferences.  If you can narrow down what KIND of thing you're looking for, you'll probably get a more precise response.

I think overall, though, the most useful is the no-cd patch. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

Smurf,

Well I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, there seems to be a whole bunch of differant utilities out there but tooo mmaannyyyy to choose from.

I was thinking along the lines that the most used are usually the best ones, hence worth the time....

ok. well, first, what kind of FS do you have? FS2004, FS2002, 2000, 98, CFS1,2,3?

then what is your tase. like mine is civilian Jets. i like commerical flying. then there are people who like:
>Helicopters
>propeller aircraft
>military aircraft
>vintage (old) aircraft
>gliders & ultralights
>concept (1 fo a kind) aircraft
> then misc. where stuff like cars, boats, and even a chair (lazyboy 3000) can make the scene.

it all depends on what you want.

Hi Marlin..welcome to the mad world of FSx ;D....the one thing I really wouldn't like to be without is AI traffic...for me it is the thing that brings the Flight Sim to life..without it you have a world full of almost "dead" airports and skies....Project AI is the one that gets my vote..commoner ;)

.And I dont use AI at all LOL I fly onlne on Vatsim which has live ATC over most of Europe/USA and many parts of the world, which t me is the way forward. If you want to go down that route there are othe downloads you will need and others that are useful.
So you see it all depends on what you want to get out of your flying.
Online or offline though I would probably say FSNavigator would be my 'must have' as it gives a better map and route planning with all the airways and Sids and Stars, al updated every month.

Most useful download?

FSGenesis mesh. The freeware stuff at Avsim just about triples the relief quality in mountain ranges!!!

AFCAD
Terrain Mesh
AI Traffic

For starters I'd have to put in my vote for AFCAD.
