I get the error below after I installed an airfield scenery.
On starting fs9, I get this error:-
" Scenery.cfg file error, Local scenery dir (addon scenery\SCENERY) in scenery area .038 not found.
Click OK to continue. "
Where is this elusive "Scenery.cfg file".
Thanks, ulindel

The scenery.cfg is found under the path
c:/documents and settings/your name/application data/microsoft/FS9
you may have to show hidden files and folders to find the full path.

Ummm Eno. That's fs9.cfg. Scenery.cfg is in the FS9 root directory folder.
From the error message I suspect you deleted a BGL file without deactivating it first. If you install all addon scenery separately & manage it from the FS9 Scenery Library you shouldn't need to edit Scenery.cfg.

Thank you Hagar, but where is this "Scenery.cfg file".
or even better how do I get rid of this error.
About the same time I lost control of the throttle, can not reduce it to idle after I used one of the lessons.
Any connection between the two problems, and how to get the throttle fixed.
Reloaded the the ancient "QuickShot" stick 3 times.
Thanks

I already told you. Scenery.cfg is in the FS9 root directory, the Flight Simulator 9 folder on your HD. I'm not sure what caused your error message unless you deleted something you shouldn't have. The Addon Scenery\scenery folder is activated by default. Maybe you deleted that.
PS. Look in the Addon Scenery folder for a subfolder named scenery. If it's not there create a New Folder & rename it to scenery. That should fix it.

Sorry Hagan, just found it.
So what do I add or subtract from this area :-
[Area.038]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Duxford
Layer=38
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Remote=
Remming out "Duxford" does not cure it.

Don't mees around with Scenery.cfg unless you know what you're doing. Start FS9 & go to Settings/Scenery Library. If Duxford is activated deactivate it by removing the X in the box. Then exit FS9 & try it.

Many thanks Hagan,
[Area.038]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=f:\fs9\addon scenery\duxford\scenery
Layer=38
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Remote=
Added the full path to "Local=" as above and all is OK now .
Any clues to fix the throttle as well?
Much obliged, ulindel

Glad you fixed it. I have no idea what's causing your throttle problem. It's unlikely to be related to the scenery issue or the lessons. I suspect it's your joystick. You could check the connection & try recalibrating it for a start.

Did these things a few times with no result, but will keep trying.
May even end up reinstall fs9.
Best wishes to you and all for the New Year. ulindel
