FS-9 Problems After Reinstallation

Postby rebel1961 » Thu Dec 30, 2004 5:30 pm

I had no problems arise from installing the FS-9 upgrade, but another problem is bugging me that started when I had to re-install FS-9 a few weeks later. I have a number of downloaded aircraft that no longer perform the same as before the reinstallation. (Usually it's a pitch instability that shows up with the elevators deflecting at a fairly rapid rate.)

My biggest problem is that I lost the animation (landing gear, ailerons, rudder, drag chute, etc.) on one of my favorite aircraft, the Convair F-106. I had several versions loaded, but used the "F-106A_B" By kazunori Ito the most. It looks damn funny sitting on the runway suspended above the concrete with no landing gear! (Many of the other aircraft still have animation, flaps, gear & etc.) Is there a setting in the game itself that needs to be changed? Do I have the wrong F-106 loaded? Is there an F-106 out there with full animation that I don't know about? :'(   Help Please!

Hey, Rebel

In regard to your F-106 problem, you may just want to delete the whole thing and re-install it. That's usually the best way to go. I had the same thing happen to me with my Piper Tri-Pacer, which I love dearly. So I went to the aircraft folder, deleted it, reinstalled it and it was spick and span.

Hope this helps. ;)

James,

Following your advice, I deleted all the three F-106 Files I had in my FS-9 aircraft folder. I then went to Simviation and downloaded the F-106A_B file (by Mr. Ito), unzipped it and placed it in my "Aircraft" folder.  It still has no landing gear or animated parts!

Perhaps theres someone who knows where I can get my original F-106 file with animated parts. I remember that it deployed the drag chute whenever you used the speed brake, which makes for a very interesting final approach. (When I flew the real aircraft, the speed brake was the only way to slow it down in order to get 180 knots "across the fence" speed.)

It sounds to me that these aircraft were made for FS2000.
I have heard of a way to correct this problem but not sure what it is. Use the search feature in the forums to look for post on this subject I am pretty sure you will finf at least one.
The problem has to do with FS2002 using a different version of FSDS than FS2004 does. 8)
