hi, maybe everyone does this, but i just figured it out...... i have so many planes and it takes forever to load and to change aircraft, so i took all the aircraft out of the aircraft folder, except the default (because i didn't know if the sim would work without them) plus a few of my most favorites, and placed the rest in a temp folder, i called the hanger, from which i add or remove a plane as i wish. what a relief!!!!!! ............uncle vic.

Hi Vic. Not a bad idea if you have a lot of aircraft installed. This is quite common in CFS2 but I'm not sure it would actually improve the loading time. I would think that once the aircraft are written to the database the first time you run FS9 after installing them it wouldn't make much difference how many there are. It might be more sensible to have a clearout & permanently remove those you don't use. I'm sure that most people have far more than they need.
You can create the Hangar subfolder in the FS9\Aircraft directory itself if you wish. This makes moving them in & out much easier. You're right not to drag any default aircraft in the Hangar. I wouldn't recommend it. Also make sure you don't remove aircraft that others are aliased to & those used for AI traffic.

thanks hagar, believe me it made a huge difference. i know i shouldn't covet. but it's kind of hard to let them go, as each one is facinating in its own way. thanks for the extra hints too.................................uncle vic.
