Just what is it, and how does it differ than normal scenery objects.  I am not very comfortable with putting in scenery, however, I have succesfully put in a cople things including my home airport.  Thanx in advance.

Long answer shortened:

It's a mesh.  It just adds some detail to your terrain.  I'd definitely recommend it.  If you can put in an airport, then mesh won't be an issue at all for you.  Just follow the instructions and you'll be good to go.

If at all possible, try looking for 38.6m or 19.2m scenery terrain mesh.  76m mesh is good in its own right, but when I had the Olympic Peninsula 76m terrain mesh installed, some very-well-known terrain features of Mason County, Washington appeared washed-out and dull in appearance. It's something akin to making a sharp knife go dull. However, when I downloaded and installed Raimondo Taburet's 38.6M freeware terrain mesh for the West Coast, those very same features appeared much like they do when I look at them every day -on days weather permitting- from my yard. (Mainly, I'm referring to the twin peaks of Mt. Washington and Mt. Ellinor just north of Lake Cushman.)

I at first was very uncomfortable with even messing with Flight Simulator 2004. For the first month I had it, I never even installed additional aircraft. But one day I found a pretty accurate version of the MD500E helicopter and ever since, I've installed at least five GB of add-on scenery and add-on aircraft.  I've even created my own scenery and I'm working on enhancements for that scenery add-on as well as repaints and other Washington State scenery improvements for FS9.
