ATC Call Signs

Postby Springer6 » Sun Dec 19, 2004 6:01 pm

Does anyone know where the list of ATC Call signs that can be used is held in FS2004. I know there is the Airlines file in the FS2004 Aircraft folder , but that seems only to accept certain names e.g. it will accept "Air Force" and "Speedbird" but will not work for say "Military" or "Royal Air Force".

Under [General] in an Aircraft file you can input certain atc types , such as "Supermarine", "Helicopter" and of course "Cessna" etc, but where is the list of atc types kept . How can you add to it or modify it or what are the rules about using a new type?

You can add anything you want that is not already present so long as you create it via EditVoicePack.

Many thanks Rollerball. I have tried Edit VoicePacck and have been able to create new callsigns etc .
The file the default callsigns seem to be  held in  is FS9/Sound/USEnglishBig.gvp, but it seems difficult to view the whole of this to check for existing defaults ( existing mods via editvoice pack are given) .

Now  I just need to work out how the various atc categories in the aircraft file inter relate.

Thanks again for the good advice

Excellent

Glad it worked out as I didn't have time to give more details when I answered

Yes call signs are now no problem, but do you know how I can get the tower and ground  to respond at the airports that don't have this facility by default?

I have tried adding frequencies for tower and ground via AFCAD, but this does not seem to work

Dohhhh !  I do ask foolish questions sometimes.

I finally took the trouble to do the obvious and read the tutorial that came with AFCAD ( I had failed to unzip this part for some reason)

Tutorial explains ( more or less clearly ) that in order to get full ATC at an airport all u need do is put in a communication frequency for the site ( remembering to put the site name in upper case ) and then save this in the Add on Scenery folder.

If in doubt read the instructions !  :-[
