Gameport Drivers

Postby chief1995 » Fri Dec 10, 2004 6:30 pm

When I try to calibrate my "Wingman" joystick or my CH Yoke in my FS9 settings I get this message " Gameport or Gameport drivers not properly configured". I have used the Device Manager to tried to trouble shoot, but I have been unable to fix it.
Where/ and what are the gampe port drivers?  I amrunning WINXP.

Thanks,

Chief

Chief, from what I have been told, input devices that use gameport will not work with XP, you have to use USB for XP, not sure if that information is correct though, and I have never tried to use a gameport device with XP, I have only used USB, but if this info is incorrect maybe someone else can clear it up... ;D

Try to detect your joystick using Start/settings/control panel/gaming controllers. That may sort it if you haven't done that already.

For some reason your system thinks it's got a gameport device and not USB. Gameport devices are related to soundcard drivers usually. A re-install of your sound driver might straighten out the mess.

By the way, Gameport controllers work fine in XP, I don't use USB game controllers at all.

I would try deleting the devices but leave drivers (or delete and reinstall the drivers with the devices disconnected).

Then connect each device separately and allow XP to detect them and reinstall automatically.

Can't see how this can fail.

Hi RollerBall,

Thanks for advice, but yes I have tried disconnecting devices and deleteing drivers, then plugging devices and letting XP install drivers, but still not working.
Will keep trying all new suggestions.

Ok there it is. Unplug the USB and uninstall the drivers. Then reinstall the drivers from the cd BEFORE you plug the controllers in.

I use a Sidewinder as well and if it is plugged in before the drivers are installed probs result. Might try that.
