My favorite would be the Dc-3, then the Extra!

I think I've spent a total of an hour in the default planes since I got FS9.

I agree. MS really did not do a good job on the default planes... The 777s were awful...

The planes have came along way since 95 98 like take the Learjet 45 for example before some of the swiches were not avaliable like for instance the landing lights for only sides . I haven't played fs2004 so I can't say which one I like the best but I have played fs2000 and the 737 is the one I like in fs2000 .  Also the air traffic control used to not use voices on free flights or IFR flight in fs98 the sounds stop after about a month on most systems and the lessons which don't really teach much have really just skip the surface of flying basics . So I thing that they have improved since fs95 and 98 . If they improve anything it should be on making the scenery look better and ATC I thing that should be some of the main focus along with aircraft desighn is important too . I look forward to future versions of flight simulator .  Also train simulator is very enjoyable of course if you like trains .

The Baron 58 isn't that bad, and the 172. Other than that: Bleh!

I haven't spent much time in any of the default planes, most, I haven't even touched.

I dunno - there are a ton of truly excellent freeware out there; but a couple of the default 'planes are quite nice as well.

As has been stated; the DC-3 is quite an excellent aircraft - quite a superb VC on the machine. I also like the DeHavilland Comet - a real handful to fly; get lazy for two seconds and it'll bite you hard! but that's exactly what I like about it.
Easy airplanes are boring airplanes. ;D
The Comet's insanely beautiful to look at as well - a Jag E-type with wings. ;D
