Being an ARFF guy (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) I love having emergency situations in FS.  I saw someone mention in the "mini accident report" that they'd like to see this topic as a "sticky"  I agree. I would love to have a permanent post where we could all post (in as real as manner as possible) our accidents/incidents in FS.  Play it up, add a like to photos you post in the photo section showing the incident..talk about your passenger reactions whatever!  Just hope Ozzy would agree and let us do this for a while. Yes, I am positive towards it. I think, we should have it as natural as possible. I mean, let it be a real incident or accident, not something which is purposely done for the sake of posting the reports.

And if we have people who can act like the NTSB, that's pretty cool enough.

I think, if we have a proper kinda report format, that could be good.

Here's someone else who favors the idea.  I have more incidents to report than I care for but I learned something from them all and didn't get hurt in the process.  I'm surprised sometimes at how much like real life some of the contributing factors are.  Pilot inattention, for example.

Of course some of the factors are peculiar to filght sim.  Like a cat walking across the keyboard during talkoff and screwing up your trim.

This is a good idea for a sticky... here's another, taking off on that idea... how about trying to re-create known incidents or accidents, to learn more about why things turned out as they did, or to see if one could do better? I know the sim is limited in what it could reproduce, but I think I'm gonna try that as soon as I can finally get this sim running as it should on my machine.

sorry faztech, didn't read your post. I'm with you on that: re-enactments of real world incidents interests me more than failures invented in the sim... not that that isn't a useful idea!

I tryed to recreate an accident from the book Airframe by Micheal Crichton. It involved a fictional jetliner called the Norton N22, its about the size of a 777 im assuming. anyway, the pilot accidently deployed the leading edge slats in criuse flight at mach .85, the aircraft nosed up, the pilot panicked, took it out of auto pilot and then over corrected and put it into a dive. auto pilot came back on automatically because of the pilots erratic input and climbed back up to proper altitude (FL350 I think), pilot continued to panick and took it back out of auto pilot, over corrected again and so forth, this happened 10 or 15 times untill the pilot was knocked out. 3 people died, at least 100 injured. I couldnt recreate it because A I couldnt find the slats command and B Auto pilot dosnt come on automatically in FS.

Well you got a 777 nosing up and down erratically im shure a lot of ppl would be flying around the cabin,  like stewardeses, ppl goin to bathroom, and ppl that didint have their seatbelt on, thats my guess.

yes, people were flung all over the place. In the book, the terms "severe pitch oscilation", and "porpoising" were used a lot, that should tell you something.
