For what I've read previously, there will be FS 2006. There's no FS2005. I believe new versions will come out every two years.

... if there comes a FS 2005 I hope it will be released in 2006 .....

I don't want to buy a new computer because of FS 200X.

Well, to be honest: I want to. But I can't.  So, slow please, MS-boys and girls.

Yeah I heard something about FS2006 wasnt gonna be reverse compatible with any of the older FS's  :o

And probably everyone running FS2004 with marginal computers will have to do MAJOR upgrades, if they want to use FS2006...Sorry, but I like FS2004 just the way it is now....My $0.02 worth  ;D

I've yet to hear any leaks about FS10....I'd be very skeptical about where you hear/read anything relating to it.  I'd be very surprised if M$ is in anything other than the really early conceptual planning of such a program...Even if they were to have a release scheduled, you'd be looking at a mid to late 2005 release anyway...get comfortable.  You're not going to lose FS9 just yet.
Great edit, Bob.

Not necessarily true. From the Microsoft Flight Simulator website itself.

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsi ... kingof.asp

We wish we could show you a bustling assembly line stamping out airplanes and scenery, but, alas, the rumble of our industry is the tapping of keyboards and clicking of mice.

It is true, however, that like manufacturing on an assembly line, work on Flight Simulator never really stops. Long before one project is out the door, planning and design have already begun on the next release. We're always working on the next version of Flight Simulator.
