The Bucker-131-A Jungmann TO problem

Postby jordonj » Wed Dec 15, 2004 9:01 pm

I was estatic when Lemoncat Showed us the Jungmann in his contest entry (thanks Lemoncat!)

Only thing was, when I tried to take off, this is what always happened to me!

The Corsiar was easier!  You know how Bill Lyons' cars will take off if you open the throttle fast enough?  It was like that...

I asked Lemoncat how he got it off the ground and he promptly got back with me (thanks again Lemoncat!)

Unfortunately, his solution did not work for me... :'(

I'm not one to sit around crying, so I tried something else...

Here is what I did to correct it....

Since the plane looks a lot like the Bill Lyons Tiger Moth, I used that one to copy flight dynamics from...

I copied the section titled:

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]

and

[airplane_geometry]

from the Tiger Moth aircraft.cfg and replaced the corresponding sections in the Bucker aircraft.cfg...

At first it didn't work...until I copied the .air file from the Tiger Moth as well...it's a lot more flyable now!

I posted this to help anyone else who may be having a problem.  Oh and if anyone else has a better fix...please say so!

Last thing...in case you missed the site where this plane is  located, it's at this site...there's an excellent Ju-52 3M there with a spectacular VC...worth your time!

You gave it full power straight off didn't you  ::) ::)
Take off power is about 75% fed in nice and smoothly once in the air then you can increase the power. 8) 8)

Scratch that I was being tooooooooo smug ....... I realised that I had turned down the realism settings because I was fiddling about with a helicopter last night. I reset the settings and got the same result as you  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

/me wanders off to replace air file and edit the aircraft CFG

Hmmm...

I haven't had the time do do much sim flying just lately but I had to try this. I had no problem - in fact it was a delight to fly.

But I have to say that the sim's so-called realism settings are total rubbish from my experience. I have had the good fortune to fly several light singles and a couple of twins and not one has pulled to the left in the way that M$ would have you believe. Bear in mind that they see this as a game and want to give the impression that every flight is total excitement and dicing with death - which could not be further from the truth in reality.

ALL aircraft have safety built into their design and if they were as difficult to fly as in this sim with 'full realism' you would be hearing about accidents every day of the week, week after week.

So I have adjusted the settings to what I think is right from my experience and I have to say that where I've uploaded FDEs (the last was the Gulf IV) I seem to get quite a few emails saying how close they are to real life.

That's good enough for me mate  ;)

I only wondered if I was the only one having this problem and if so...showing how I fixed it.

::)

Hey jordonj, that was only a comment - wasn't meant to be directed at you or anyone. Sorry if that's how you interpreted it. On this occasion ABSOLUTELY no offence meant  ;)
