Hello, I'm new to this forum, so please be patient with me.

I do have a problem, I downloaded the beautiful Lancaster bomber from your wonderful site, but I cannot get the engines up to full power (enough for take off) I can get all the engines started, but the oil pressures stay low and I get a "master caution" light. The torque gauges also show zero.

I have an X36 joystick and throttle, which does not seem to operate both banks of engines, I have to mess about with the throttle quadrant, which is quite fiddly.
Is there any way to use my X36 throttle to operate all 4 engines, without having to mess about?

Please someone help me get this bird to fly, I can't wait to buzz the dams in Germany......lol

I know I'm doing something wrong, but what?

the aircraft will taxi, and I can lift the tail, but the damned thing won't fly, I'm so frustrated.

Tim don't worry about asking Qs that is what we're here for. Now which Lanc have you installed?

I installed the 2002 Lanc with the 2004 upgrade on top of that.


Please help, I do so want to fly this aircraft, just can't get engines powered up enough.....sob sob, I'm gutted.

If you press F4 do the engines go to full power?

yes and no, they start to increase in power, but not enough to get airborne.....I'm so sad

Hi just a thought: how high is the runway? Try leaning the mixture at full power the engines should rev up!
I had this problem with a b25 just not enough power until the mixture is leaned off a bit. Good luck Chris

Try changing the amount of onboard fuel also.
I tried getting a 747 off of the ground fully loaded. And was next to impossible.

Try with 50% fuel and see what happens..

Don't want to sound flippant....but you probably won't get the crate to the "Dams" and back with 50% fuel...

Hi again XJR...I downloaded the 2002 plus the update files and also a Lancaster panel..did you use the self-install for the update?...it puts ithe files into the wrong place I think... (they make a new folder in the aircraft folder )...you want the files from the update into the Lancaster folder and overwrite the originals from the 2002 version. I clicked the self install, but installed them into a new folder on my desktop, then manually added them to the original folder. The panel I got was a simple, exchange panel for panel installation.....it flies just great and the new sounds are better too....even took off from Meigs..it's a hell of a way to the Rhur Valley from here though ...best of luck...commoner

Fuel doesn't make a difference, tried flaps, tried no flaps.

It's the engines that won't come up to full power, oil pressure light stays on, and the revs won't go all the way up......!!!

I'm so frustrated now, all the Lanc wants to do is plough fields....lol.

When I download the original FS2002 file, do I extract the contents to FS9 Aircraft folder or what?

Then when I install the update, where do I install that to? Do I change the folder where it asks you to install the file?

Please give me idiot proof info.

I haven't tried the Lanc so I can't walk you through it. If you take my advice you'll forget the auto-install & redirect the install path to a Temp folder. Most auto-install files allow you to do this. First use this method to install the FS2002 version manually in the usual way. Repeat the procedure for the update, pasting the

I just downloaded the update. Here's what it says in the Readme.

Hi all,

If the Lancaster is not developing enough power for take-off, etc, it's almost a sure sign that the FS2004 updates files didn't go to the right spot as that was one of the symptoms when the FS2002 flight model files were used in FS2004.

The auto-installer is setup for Dave's B.III plane only.  It isn't setup for the Dambuster plane or the Grand Slam.  It does put files in the right spot for the version of the B.III I have but I've also noticed different copies of Dave's plane around so it's possible there's some naming discrepencies.  If I get a chance I'll have a look at it.  I may also do tuned FMs for the Dam Buster and the Grand Slam some day.

In the mean time, some steps to try:

- make sure it's the FS2002 B.III version you have installed;

- re-run the auto-installer and let it do it's thing;

- if that didn't fix the problem; re-run the auto-installer but point it to a C:\Temp directory then manually copy over the files to the same spots in your FS9 install;

- make sure your realism setting is on "hard".

The Lanc does climb slowly but you should be able to take off reasonably well on a 5000' runway, initially climb around 900 fpm +/- and maintain at least 500 fpm as you continue to climb.

PS.  Once you get the Lancaster flying properly with the aliased DC-3 panel and sound, make sure you get Des Braban's Lancaster panel and sound packages.   They'll make a big difference to your immersion experience.  8)
