Annoying error message

I installed some scenery - or rather my house - (you may remember seeing my shots of it a while back - see here
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 39;start=0).

However, I keep getting these messages when I fire up EVERY time. >:(
The house is there and its all fine - but these messages are such a nuisance!

This is Nuisance Number 1

And Nuisance Number 2

I would be very grateful to anyone who can be rid me of these!

Cheers all,

Ben :)

Open up your scenery.cfg file.

Scroll down to bottom of file.

I bet the last two entries are identical.  If they are delete one of them and save.  Hopefully that solves your problem.

Hi Gixer!
Thanks for the reply.

What cfg file? I can't find one! :o
My addon is only a bgl. and a mdl. file :)

Hi Ben. Scenery.cfg is located in the FS9 root folder. You can open it in Notepad like any other CFG.

PS. The FS9\Addon Scenery\scenery folder is activated by default. If you paste BGL files in there it's not necessary to activate them separately from the Scenery Library. I suspect this is what you've done. I would recommend starting again & configuring your house in a separate subfolder in the same way as an other 3rd party scenery. Then install & activate it in the usual way.

Here's the thing.
Can someone redo it for me as I'm prone to mistakes! ;)

The error messages look like you are using forward slashes in places where you should be using all backslashes.

You might have missed my PS so I'll repeat it. The FS9\Addon Scenery\scenery folder is activated by default. If you paste BGL files in there it's not necessary to activate them separately from the Scenery Library. I suspect this is what you've done. I would recommend starting again & configuring your house in a separate subfolder in the same way as any other 3rd party scenery. Then install & activate it in the usual way.

Your sample CFG entry confirms my suspicions. Your house is actually activated 3 times. To fix it delete the 2 last entries. It will now look like this.

[Area.038]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Addon Scenery
Layer=38
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Remote=

Your house should now display without any error messages. Using the Addon Scenery\scenery folder is OK for checking scenery out but not the ideal way to install scenery. If you wish to do it properly create a New Folder in the Addon Scenery directory & rename it MyHouse or anything you like. Create a Scenery subfolder in the MyHouse folder & drag your BGL & MDL files into it. Then fire up FS9 & activate it from the Scenery Library in the usual way.

Great. Well done. ;)

Remember to do it this way with your next scenery project. I'm not sure the MDL file is really necessary but if it works leave well alone.
