Hey, my dad wants to make sure this is an ok thing to do before I do it. I have two computers, and I want to install FS9 on both systems so me and my friend can play a LAN game and do formation flying and the like. Is this okay to do?

Not really. If you understand legalese and read the license agreement, you will find that you have purchased the rights to install said program onto one computer. However, it is legal to make a backup copy, so you could make a working backup on your second computer, and 'periodically' run the backup to ensure it still works. (Or, at least, that's what you'll tell the lawyers)

...The smart thing to do would be not tell anyone...

Just don't post any shots of it on here cause SimV dosen't support that sort of thing..

I wouldn't worry about it...

As long as the PC's and the disks stay in your home, then there shouldn't be a problem. I don't see how it's any different from loading the sim on a stationary PC and a Laptop

In the end both PC's still belong to the same person

I've installed Flight Simulator 2004 using only one set of install disks on a total of three PCs. One was a friend's PC. She lives more than 12 miles from me, and then I installed it on this one and my brother's PC (both of which are networked).

My brother and I have both flown in formation. And we've also simulated news coverage using my own TV News Helicopter repaints.

Hehe.. And after I located an FS9.1 no-CD patch, we didn't have to worry about creating a "virtual drive" or burning a copy of Disk #4.

What Bell did is definitely not cool as far as the EULA is concerned.  (And easily detectable as well, if MS ever wanted to check on it.)  But to answer Ben's question...technically, no...its not legal.  But it's sorta like going 56 mph in a 55 mph zone....catch my drift?

Well, remember, this is why M$ added product activation to it's OS and office suites...

Thing is, they're pricing themselves out of the market!

But then, MSFS 2004 is $30 retail (and less online or used) so if you really want to be sure you're kosher, just get another copy!

I think I may ask for another copy for Christmas.

The thing is....If one person buys it, and installs it on several people's computers then M$ is losing money  :o

But however I think if I buy it and install it on my computer, and for some reason mine goes down, but I want to fly, so I install it on my wife's computer, I dont think there is anything wrong with that, but I am sure that isnt the way M$ sees it  >:(

..mmmmm....laws are there to be broken eh tigurious?...not in my book they arn't ........and arn't you glad that companies like M$ are around to supply you with great products like FS9 for just a few bucks.... commoner
