I saw something awhile back about some CFS planes that had been converted for use in FS2004. Just wondering if it was really possible, and how hard it is to do ???

Can be done. I think it's only the .air file that gives problems. Obviously some of the VC animations and armaments may not work.

Ah ha! I was actually wondering about this very topic this morning! My first post here can have a jumbo question mark after it! ;D
Okay, so I downloaded one of the IX Spits from Paul Rebuffat's site, extracted the zip file into a temp folder, and checked out the folders this created. AIRCRAFT and GAUGES look familiar, and I'm assuming they go in the same respective folders as they would were this a straightforward FS2004 addon... but then there are also two more folders created called OBJECTS_DP and SCENEDB. I'm staring at them now thinking, 'what the monkey...?' What are these two for, and where do they go?
Cheers! :)

Hi Hester. Those files are only used in CFS2 & you can leave them where they are or delete them if you wish. You might need to realias Panel & or Sound CFG files for the aircraft to be listed on the FS9 menu. I trust you know how to do that. You could paste in a copy of the Panel and/or Sound folders from an aircraft that works if preferred. CFS2 aircraft will be listed under Unspecified on the FS9 menu as they won't have the necessary CFG entries. You can add these later if you wish.
I remember a long thread some time ago where I explained everything you should ever need to know about adding CFS2 aircraft to FS, particularly Spitfires. I forget if this was in the FS9 or FS2002 forum.
