Has anyone else got annoyed at times with the way you move around in the flightsim world?  In more detail...  When you're looking to the left or right or up or down it doesn't move smoothly it always jumps to an extent, it jerks.  I'm sure it's to do with the technology and will be improved in the future.  But I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same.  It's especially a pain when you're trying to get that perfect view and it just jerks right past it, it's almost as if the PC was skipping frames, though it isn't at all, just trying to make my point.

I know what you mean, this is why alot of people use the Virtual Cockpit, hit "s" to change veiws,  The hat switch will move the veiw as if it were a head.

In the 2D cockpit your hat switch will work in a 2D environment. This means that if you have a 8 position hat switch then you will have 8 directions to view. This was the way the airplanes worked before the virtual cockpit. Each direction had a different panel installed cooresponding to the direction you were viewing. Some panel editing software still allows you to set these views.

Like Hanzaki_Mishima mentioned you can switch to the virtual cockpit and you can scroll with the hat switch. This isn't perfect (I still have trouble getting oriented in the cockpit) but it's better than the 2D view. There's also a modification you can do to your Fs9.cfg to make the VC view scroll faster and more like really turning your head but I forget what it is at the moment. A search of the forum might turn it up if you are interested.

Just checked it out. FIRST MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR Fs9.cfg FILE!!. Open your Fs9.cfg file in notepad and look for the line "PAN_RATE=400" (number may vary) now change the number to a larger one ie "800" and you speed up your VC pan rate.

Roger, my pan-rate is at 900, much more realistic than the default 400, you're 30 degrees past assigned heading when your pan rate is setr to default! :-)

I just did a search of the drive where FS is installed and also the Windows drive and I cannot find a file by the name of FS9.cfg.  Where is this file supposed to be?  And why would I be able to run FS9 if I don't have that file?

Would appreciate any info on this, because as others have said, the hat swiych just doesn't feel right the way that is acts with default settings?

The FS9.cfg file is hidden, First you need to go to My Documents/Tools/Folder Options/View/ then check Show Hidden Files and Folders, and uncheck Hide Protected Operating System Files

Then go to My Computer/Local Disc "usually C:"/Documents and Settings/UserName/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9

My bad, Biggbadd.  I have my folders already set to show hidden files but I had forgotten that when searching Windows doesn't automatically search in hidden folders or for hidden files.  Thanks for reminding me of that.
