hi, forgive my ignorance, but out in the country, the stars and especially, the milky way, are phenomenal. does one see this same breathtaking sight when flying away from city lites (or is there other light contaminations) and can this effect be found in fs2004. the last time i flew at night in a stretch dc-8, my attention was centered around the barf bag so i didn't observe. yea, i'm too sensitive.....thank God for fs2004 cheers, vic

Hi, I have the Stars.zip file but have not installed it. My question is: Where exactly can I find the stars.dat file in the Fs09 cfg. section in order to install this zip? I have looked but cannot find. Thak yu, J.

..It's not in the .CFG it's in the FS9 Root folder....called stars....well it would be wouldn't it  ;D commoner

I too can't find the Stars file. Where is the root file? I was there quite a while ago but have forgotten!. Thanks.

If it's just called stars on your system the file extension is not displayed. Configuring your folder options to show the file extensions should make things a lot easier.

got the stars...looks quite nice, thanks, but the mass of the milky way would be super nice........... would probably be another frame rate gobbler if it was possible.........vc.

Those darn city folk who work for Microsoft probably haven't seen the Milky Way except in NASA photos. I missed the stars too in MSFS. Best way to navigate if you can see them. Just look for the Big Dipper and follow that to Polaris.  ;D

Gonna try the file linked above and see if that makes any improvement.

You are right Hagar, but I did know that. I just like to have mine without the extensions showing ... Handy tip for others who didn't know it though  Thanks commoner.

I just tried the alternate stars file mentioned above. It works great and wow what a difference. I highly recommend it. Haven't tried turning on the constellations yet.

I just tried it with the constellations on. Thats really cool!!!  ;D . Nice to see what each of the constellations are, but I prefer it without the little green lines.

I've been flight simming for many many years... and have not heard of a mod for the stars.

and personally I can see the milky way...sure, youll need active camera to look straight up in the sky.
